Privacy Policy

The short version

1. Who we are

Cobalt History is a history video channel. "We" and "us" mean the people who run it. This policy covers this website, cobalthistory.com, and how the channel uses the publishing tools (APIs) of the platforms it posts on. You can reach us by a direct message to Cobalt History on Instagram or Facebook.

2. Visiting this website

This website doesn't set cookies or use your browser's storage. It has no analytics, no advertising, no social media widgets, no embedded video players and no third-party scripts or fonts. Every file it uses comes from cobalthistory.com. Its one small script, our own, only starts and pauses the home page's background film; it stores nothing and sends nothing.

The thumbnails in "Latest videos" are copied onto this site when we publish it, so your browser doesn't contact YouTube until you click a video. After you click, YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. When your browser asks for a page, Cloudflare necessarily handles technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. We don't keep our own visitor logs. Cloudflare's handling of this information is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

3. If you message us

If you send us a direct message or a comment, the platform you use handles it under its own privacy policy. We read it only to reply, and we don't copy messages anywhere else.

4. Watching our videos on social platforms

When you watch, like, comment on, share or follow Cobalt History on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X or Threads, that platform collects and controls your information under its own privacy policy. As the channel's owner, we see what each platform shows any account owner: public comments and usernames, and statistics such as views, watch time and the general age ranges and countries of viewers. Those statistics come in totals and don't identify anyone. We use them only to run the channel, for example to reply to comments and to decide what to make next.

5. How we use platform APIs

We connect our own TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and X accounts to our own publishing software, which runs on our own computer. It uploads our videos with their titles, captions and hashtags, posts them at scheduled times, and checks that each post went live. It acts only on Cobalt History's accounts. It isn't offered to anyone else, and it can't act on anyone else's account.

Information the software handles

Through these APIs we don't collect information about the people who watch our videos, and we don't access any account other than our own.

How it's stored and shared

Access tokens are kept on our own computer, outside this website. They are used only for the purposes above, never shared and never sold, and they're deleted when we disconnect an account. Our videos and captions are sent only to the platform they are posted on.

TikTok

We use TikTok's Login Kit and Content Posting API to post videos to the Cobalt History TikTok account. Our use follows TikTok's developer terms. TikTok handles information under the TikTok Privacy Policy. The account owner can remove our software's access at any time in the TikTok app's settings, where connected apps are listed.

YouTube and Google

Cobalt History uses YouTube API Services to upload videos to its own YouTube channel. By using YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google handles information under the Google Privacy Policy. Access granted to our software can be removed at any time on Google's security settings page for connected apps: myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Meta and X

Posting to Instagram, Facebook and Threads uses Meta's APIs, under the Meta Privacy Policy. Posting to X uses the X API, under the X Privacy Policy. Access can be removed in each platform's settings for connected apps.

6. Selling and sharing

We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law required us to.

7. Children

Our videos are made for a general audience. This website collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. If a child messages us, we won't keep anything they send.

8. Your choices and deleting your data

This website keeps nothing about its visitors, so there is nothing about you to delete from it. If you've messaged us, or want to know or delete any information we hold about you, send us a direct message to Cobalt History on Instagram or Facebook saying "Delete my data". We'll tell you what we have, delete it and confirm within 30 days. Comments and other activity on a platform are controlled by that platform; you can delete them there.

9. Security

This website is served only over HTTPS. Access tokens for our accounts never go into this website or into any public place.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.

11. Contact

Send us a direct message to Cobalt History on Instagram or Facebook.
